Company 5 – Lincoln Station houses two apparatus but is typically staffed with one crew of three firefighters: one Officer, one Driver/Operator, and one Firefighter. As the oldest active station in the department, it holds a unique place in our history and is the only station with a basement.
The basement serves as both a storage area and a functional gym space to help our firefighters maintain physical fitness.

Engine 5 is staffed with a crew of three: one Officer, one Driver/Operator, and one Firefighter.
As the first-due engine in the largest geographical response district in the city, Engine 5 is a cornerstone of operations on the North Side. In 2024, the crew had a record-setting year, responding to approximately 1,100 calls for service.
Engine 5 also responds to all second alarms on the North Side and third alarms on the South Side, providing critical support during major incidents.
When Ladder 1 or Ladder 2 is out of service for an extended period, Engine 5 serves as the city’s designated reserve aerial, ensuring uninterrupted ladder coverage citywide.

Engine 7 (Out of Service)
Formerly Engine 6 – Now designated as the city’s Reserve Rescue Engine
Engine 7 used to respond alongside Engine 5 with two additional firefighters: one Driver/Operator and one Firefighter. It enhanced coverage in the city’s largest response district and supported the workload of Engine 5’s crew.
Due to a reduction in staffing, Engine 7 was browned out and remains out of service. This loss highlights the impact of decreased resources—slower response times, added strain on remaining crews, and increased risk to both the public and our firefighters.
Restoring Engine 7 is critical to maintaining safe, effective service.
