Bomb Squad
Our Bomb Squad is the department’s most prestigious special team, restricted by federal regulation to just four certified technicians. Uniquely, it’s one of the few fire department–operated bomb squads in the nation. Each member graduates from the FBI Hazardous Devices School and maintains ProBoard® Hazardous Devices Technician and Safety Officer certifications, along with ICS credentials.
Equipped with state‑of‑the‑art robots, remote X‑ray systems, and specialized detection tools, the squad conducts expert explosive threat assessments and render‑safe operations. They also provide large‑event monitoring for high‑profile gatherings such as Musikfest and the Celtic Classic, ensuring public safety on a grand scale.
